Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (121 a.a.) Human Recombinant
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor-121 Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a double, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 121 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 28423 Dalton. VEGF121 circulates more freely than other VEGF forms, which bind more tightly with vascular heparin sulfates.
The VEGF-121 is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
Accession
Amino acid sequence
The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Ala-Pro-Met-Ala-Glu.
Biological Activity
Determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) using a concentration range of 0.2-0.4 ng/ml corresponding to a specific activity of 2.5-5MU/mg.
Formulation
The protein was lyophilized from a concentrated (1mg/ml) solution with no additives.
Physical Appearance
Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Purity
Greater than 98.0% as determined by:
(a) Analysis by RP-HPLC.
(b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE.
Solubility
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor -121 in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Stability
Lyophilized Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor 121 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18oC. Upon reconstitution VEGF-121 should be stored at 4oC between 2-7 days and for future use below -18oC.
For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
