The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids of MCSF was determined and found to be Met-Glu-Glu-Val-Ser.
The ED50, calculated by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of murine M-NFS-60 indicator cells was found to be < 2.0ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 500,00Units/mg.
The MCSF protein was lyophilized with 5mM NaP, pH-8.0 & 100mM NaCl.
Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Greater than 97.0% as determined by:
(a) Analysis by RP-HPLC.
(b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE.
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized MCSF in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Lyophilized MCSF although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18oC. Upon reconstitution MCSF should be stored at 4oC between 2-7 days and for future use below -18oC.
