The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Met-Ala-Pro-Thr-Arg.

The ED50 range = 0.001-0.01ng/ml corresponding to a specific activity of 100-1,000MIU/mg, determined by the dose dependent proliferation of murine MC/9 cells.

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Granulocyte Macrophage Colony Stimulating Factor in sterile 18MΩ-cm H₂O not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Lyophilized Granulocyte Macrophage Colony Stimulating Factor although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18^oC. Upon reconstitution GMCSF should be stored at 4^oC between 2-7 days and for future use below -18^oC.
For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
